| The Birth of the "Iida Puppet Festa", a Festival for All Citizens |
| In 1998, the Puppetry Carnival that had been said to be a trinity of citizens, puppeteers, and administration, was decided to be terminated with its 20th anniversary as the occasion. Then, a movement to continue such a festival as well as to reconfirm the significance of the carnivals so far arose from among the citizens, the movement being united, and a new full-scale civic action was launched. And an outline was compiled in March 1999, a new executive committee of citizens was born in April, and the first puppet show festival with the initiative of the citizens, the "Iida Puppet Festa", was held in August. |
